Skilled Carpenter

Job Description:

Yoder Construction, Inc. is looking to hire a skilled carpenter with knowledge of various carpentry techniques. You will be responsible for layout, installation, repairing, finishing, and maintaining various structures, fixtures, and buildings. Other duties will include designing, cutting, and measuring materials according to a client’s requirements.

To be successful in this position, you should have experience as a carpenter, understand construction processes, be skilled with tools, have attention to detail, demonstrate a sound understanding of safety regulations and building codes, work well as part of a team, enjoy working outdoors, and be able to perform strenuous physical tasks. Top-notch skilled carpenters are leaders who can identify problems and find feasible solutions to them.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Assisting supervisors with structural design, planning, layout, and installation
  • Conduct repair work and installation of doors, windows, drywall, cabinets, stairs, and other fixtures as required
  • Ability to assess the quality of woodwork and materials with an eye for detail
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools, including drills, forklifts, skid loaders, and other tools as directed by management
  • Compliance with local building codes, and health and safety regulations
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Working closely with architects and other professionals
  • Assisting with on-site training of new team members
  • Processing paperwork and traveling to multiple sites as required

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in the construction industry is required
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and/or material
  • Excellent stamina
  • Ability to focus and keep calm under pressure
  • Ability to keep track of multiple projects
  • Knowledge of mathematics
